A couple of weeks ago I bought these really pretty mala beads! Do you use them? Make them? Want a set?!
Mala beads, as well as being cute to wear, are used to focus the mind. They are typically stringed up with 108 beads, and this is significant because the number 108 is a sacred number in Hinduism, and the earth, moon and sun are all 108 times their diameter away from earth. Other spiritual groups have other things going on which are linked to the number 108, but I won’t even pretend to understand these other theories because it’s safe to say that all over the world, people believe this number is pretty magical.
Mala beads can be worn during meditation or during affirmation time, and you pretty much feed the beads one at a time through your fingers as you repeat your mantra 108 times. To get the most power from the beads, many people use the same mantra daily for 30 or 40 days so that they can reset their minds for lasting change. The practice is calming, and wearing the beads is a constant reminder of the intention to change or manifest something different. Just having them nearby can help keep you on track. (Or they help me, anyway!)
Matching the beads used to your intention is a nice way of making your mala beads a bit more special, too. Amethyst can be used for intuitive goals, citrine for success or money goals, and rose quartz for all your love desires! And if you’re not sure which crystal will help? Picking up a set with the chakra crystals on them will cover all your bases and have you sorted!
Are you currently meditating with beads? Do you have a favourite set or favourite mantra? Leave me a comment below! I’d love to know the success your beads have manifested for you!
I’ve just started with mine, but already I’m loving the extra meditation time!
